The government is measuring the quality of mobile and internet services

The regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority is going to measure the quality of mobile and internet across the country.

Lately, all telecom companies have been failing to meet the quality standards of mobile services.

Complaints regarding the quality of mobile and data are also on the rise. In this context, NEA had demanded a letter of intent for consultation at the end of last December.

NEA had carried out the project in three packages covering a total area of 18,000 km.

The first package will include Province 1 and Madhes, the second package will include Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and the third package will include Lumbini, Far West and Karnali provinces.

Although NEA has released three packages for the project, the companies selected in the first phase are all the same.

The selected candidates are Mahakali Mechi Technology, Jamie of Inclusive-Everest, JV of TCN-Milestone and JV of Maharudra-Synergy.

According to the authority, the quality of voice, SMS and data of all service providers under mobile service will be measured on the basis of drive test, in which the consultant will have to test in rural and urban areas as well as on highways and tributaries.

For that, the company has to bring the system itself, measure the quality of mobile service and submit a report to the Telecommunication Authority.
